1 NORTHEAST / CONNECTICUT
Welcome Aboard on our Adventure to Nova Scotia and The Atlantic Provinces as we travel through the Northeastern Part of the USA and on into the Southern Tip of the New England States to spend the night in Connecticut.
2 NEW ENGLAND / BAY OF FUNDY / YARMOUTH, NOVA SCOTIA
Today we make our way through Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Maine. We arrive in Portland, Maine for lunch and shopping. After visiting Portland, we will make out way to St. John NB for the night.
3 HOPEWELL ROCKS PARK
This morning we depart St. John & make our way to Hopewell Rocks Park. Known as “Flowerpot Rocks” these rock formations are located in the Bay of Fundy; they were created by tidal erosion. During low tide you can even walk on the ocean floor. Tonight, we will make our way to the Dartmouth area for the next 3 nights.
4 NOVA SCOTIA / GRAND PRE-NATIONAL PARK / “EVANGELINE COUNTRY”
Today we begin a scenic ride along the coast of Nova Scotia. We visit St. Mary’s Church – the largest wooden church in North America. While here we visit Grand Pre-National Park — an Acadian Village Immortalized by Longfellow’s poem – “Evangeline”. We learn how the Acadians lived before the British forced them to leave their homes and move to the “Colonies”. We know them today, mainly in Louisiana, as the “Cajuns”, which is a mispronunciation of the word – Acadians.
5 HALIFAX CITY TOUR / THE CITADEL / PEGGY’S COVE
Today we enjoy a tour of Halifax with a Local Guide including the Beautiful Public Gardens and the Famous Citadel Fortress and a visit to one of the most picturesque places in all of North America – Peggy’s Cove with its beautiful lighthouse. Then we spend another night in the Dartmouth area.
6 ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL / BADDECK
Our journey today continues to Cape Breton Island. There we visit the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. The museum features artifacts donated in 1955 from the Bell family’s personal museum and also memorabilia associated with Bell’s experiments. We spend the night in Baddeck, Nova Scotia.
7 CABOT TRAIL
Today we see some of the most breathtaking scenery of the tour as we travel the Famous Cabot Trail through Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The Cabot Trail was opened in 1936 and is the original and most spectacular of all Nova Scotia Trails. We spend the night in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia.
8 PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND / GREEN GABLES
This morning we leave Nova Scotia for Canada’s Smallest Province – Prince Edward Island. After a Short Ferry ride, we enter Charlottetown, the Capital of Prince Edward Island. We also visit Cavendish to tour “The House of Green Gables,” immortalized by Author Lucy Maud Montgomery. In the evening we have a “supper” that is famous in this area. We spend the night at Summerside on Prince Edward Island.
9 NEW BRUNSWICK / BAR HARBOR, MAINE / ACADIA NATIONAL PARK
Today we take the bridge across the Northumberland Strait to New Brunswick. We leave Canada and enter the USA and head to Bar Harbor, Maine. We visit Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain. This Mountain is the Highest Point on the Atlantic Seaboard – 1,530 feet. We spend the night in Bar Harbor.
10 FREEPORT, MAINE / CONNECTICUT
This morning we visit Freeport, Maine and then head South to spend the night in Windsor, Connecticut.
11 HOMEWARD BOUND
Our journey today takes us Home through the Northeastern States and into Virginia with many Memories of our Beautiful Canadian Adventure.
