1 SHENANDOAH VALLEY / BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS
We leave today and make our way through the Shenandoah Valley and into the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where we stay in Wytheville, Virginia.
2 LOUISVILLE / EVAN WILLIAMS
We depart today making our way through West Virginia and into Kentucky where we will arrive in Louisville, KY where we will spend the next 3 nights. Tonight, we are treated to a tasting and dinner at Evan Williams Distillery.
3 CHURCHILL DOWNS / FRAIZIER MUSEUM / BOURBONS BISTRO
Our day begins with a visit to Churchill Downs, where we experience a behind the scenes walking tour of this historic track! We will also visit the Derby Museum and see the film “The Greatest Race”. We will treat you to lunch today at the famous Brown hotel and enjoy their signature dish, the Kentucky Hot Brown Sandwich. This evening, we head to the Frazier History Museum and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Welcome Center for a bourbon tasting as well as the many exhibits highlighting Kentucky’s past, present, and future. Tonight, we are treated to dinner at Bourbons Bistro, located in one of Louisville’s historic 1870’s buildings. Here you will enjoy a delicious dinner followed by a whisky tasting and a “Bourbon 101” class.
4 BARDSTOWN / HEAVEN HILL / DINNER TRAIN
Today we visit Bardstown and My Old Kentucky Home State Park. We will tour the 200-year-old mansion and plantation of the Rowan family. On our tour we will hear the history of Stephen Foster’s ballad, learn how to make biscuits during a live demonstration in the carriage house, and a demonstration of how the proper making of the Mint Julip is done. Then we make a stop at Heaven Hill Distillery for a sampling of their fine product. Tonight, we enjoy dinner and a ride on My Old Kentucky Dinner Train.
5 OLD FRIENDS / BUFFALO TRACE / LEXINGTON
We depart Louisville this morning making our way east to Georgetown where we visit the horses at Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farm. Here we get up close and personal with famous horses such as Kentucky Derby Winner, “Silver Charm”, Breeders Cup Champion, “Amazombie” and Stakes Winners “Game on Dude” and “Ide” . We then make our way to Frankfort, Kentucky’s Capital where we visit Buffalo Trace Distillery for a guided tour and tasting. This evening, we will treat you to dinner at Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken before checking into our hotel in Lexington, KY for the next 2 nights.
6 KENTUCKY HORSE PARK / KETUCKY CASTLE / LEXINGTON BREWERY
This morning we visit the heart of Lexington horse country, and the famed Kentucky Horse Park. Here we will trace 5 million years of equine history at the international museum of the horse, tour the big barn filled with draft horses, and witness the hall of champions. We will also treat you to a Bluegrass Buffet Lunchon while at the park. Afterward we visit Lexington Brewing Company, a pioneer in Kentucky’s craft beer industry, known for their Kentucky Bourbon ale. Tonight, we treat you to dinner at the Kentucky Castle for a farm to table dining experience.
7 WYTHEVILLE
We depart our hotel this morning and make our way back through the beautiful states of Kentucky and West Virginia before arriving in Wytheville for our final night.
8 HOMEWARD BOUND
This morning we head for home with wonderful memories of Kentucky’s Unbridled Spirit!
