We travel to the beautiful town of Elkins,West Virginia, located in the Cheat River Valley. While we are in the area, we will attend the Gandy Dancer Theatre. We spend the night in Elkins, West Virginia.
The following morning we depart for our four-hour, 46 mile round trip train ride on the New Tygart Flyer. The ride features two separate mountain grades, an “S” curve tunnel, passage into a 1,500 feet deep canyon with steep, densely forested slopes, and a high bridge over the rushing Shavers Fork of the Cheat River. We enjoy all of this on a smooth climatecontrolled passenger train that has gained a reputation as one of the best mountain wilderness excursion rides in the United States. We also enjoy lunch while on board. After our train ride, we depart for home with all our wonderful memories of Elkins, West Virginia.
