1 AMELIA ISLAND
We leave today and travel through the Carolinas and Georgia making our way to Amelia Island. We will be staying in the heart of Amelia Island close to restaurants and shopping for the next four nights. Amelia Island is part of the Sea Islands Chain of Barrier Islands on Florida’s Atlantic coast. It has a History of Spanish, French, British and American Rule. It’s known for its numerous sandy beaches and sand dunes. We stay at Fernandina Beach, Florida for the next four nights.
2 RIVER CRUISE / FORT CLINCH STATE PARK
This morning we enjoy a two hour narrated river cruise. This tour will include the history of Amelia Island as well as Cumberland Island. We could possibly see wildlife including dolphins, sea otters and wild horses. After our river cruise we will visit historic Fort Clinch State Park and step back to the year 1864. Here soldiers re-enact life during the Civil War and you can explore the many rooms, galleries and grounds of the fort as you learn how the soldiers worked and lived each day. The park staff provides living history interpretations of the life of a Union soldier. This evening we will provide Dinner for you at a Local Restaurant.
3 JACKSONVILLE / KINGSLEY PLANTATION
Today we will make our way to Jacksonville. We will start our adventure with a visit to Kingsley Plantation. We view the slave quarters, waterfront plantation house, kitchen and interpretive garden. After our time at the plantation we will enjoy lunch at River City Brewing Company and a narrated cruise with the Jacksonville River Taxi.
4 ST. AUGUSTINE / FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
This morning we will head south to St. Augustine! Today is sure to be filled with the rich history of America’s Oldest City. Stroll along the brick-lined streets and delight in the city’s European flavor. We will enjoy a guided tour of the historic city as well as a visit to the Fountain of Youth. We will also give you an opportunity to visit Historic St. George Street before heading back to Amelia Island.
