1 MOUNT VERNON
We depart this morning and travel through West Virginia and Kentucky before arriving in Mount Vernon, Illinois where we spend the night.
2 OMAHA / GERMAN SOCIETY
We continue through Missouri today passing through St. Louis and Kansas City before crossing into Nebraska where we arrive in Omaha for the next 4 nights. Tonight, we enjoy an evening of German dancing, singing and ethnic food at Omaha’s German American Society! This energetic, audience participation-filled evening will transport you to Deutschland with no passport needed!
3 OMAHA CITY TOUR / SCOTLAND / SWEDEN:
This morning we are joined by a local guide who will give us an overview of Omaha including the Lewis & Clark Landing, the Birthplace of the Reuben sandwich, Pioneer Courage Park, Hollywood Candy and much more! This afternoon we visit the historic Joslyn Castle, where we will be transported to Scotland. This 30-room stone mansion resembles a traditional Scottish Castle. Before arriving back at the hotel, we will visit theLittle Scandinavia Shop to shop for items from Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland! Tonight, you will be treated to a Frontier dinner at the General Crook House.
4 IRELAND / CHINA / GREECE
Our day starts with a visit to Father Flanagan’s Boys Town, a National Historic Landmark District. For lunch, we treat you to Big Mama’s Soul Food Kitchen! Big Mama’s Soul food has become a television culinary staple, featured on Food Network: “Diners, Drive-in’s and Dives.” After lunch we will visit the Durham Museum located in Omaha’s 1930’s train depot before making our way to The Tea Smith where we will be transported to China through a tea tasting. Here we will enjoy a presentation of the history of tea in China and the tea growing process. Tonight, we visit St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church for a homemade Greek meal and dance performance.
5 LITHUANIA / IRELAND / POLAND
Our first stop this morning is Omaha’s Lithuanian Bakery. While visiting, we will hear from the Machevicius family about how they escaped Germany in WWII and moved to Omaha and started the bakery. Before lunch we will visit the Czech and Slovak Cultural Museum to learn about the culture and enjoy a cup of traditional Czech coffee. For lunch, we make our way to The Polish Home for a meal prepared by the Polish Heritage Society and enjoy a special dance presentation celebrating polish culture. Tonight, we will treat you to dinner at the Braxen Head Irish Restaurant and enjoy a private performance by an Irish folk Singer.
6 MOUNT VERNON
We depart Nebraska today, making our way back to Mount Vernon, IL where we will spend the night.
7 HOMEWARD BOUND
We continue making our way east today traveling back through Kentucky and West Virginia arriving back home having been all around the world, with no passport!
