Expect to be mesmerized by a sea of purple-magenta rhododendron blooms at Roan Mountain State Park located on the North Carolina & Tennessee state line. The Park and Roan Mountain Gardens offer many breathtaking, and photo-making opportunities for us to enjoy. In the Gardens, for the best views, we can take a short hike on the easy paved trail from the Recreation Area where we will pause for a picnic lunch. This afternoon, we make our way south to the quaint town of Baskerville, known for its annual Rhododendron Festival. Hundreds of visitors come to join the Festival which features the Annual Rhododendron Pageant, a Craft Fair, live music throughout the day, and more! Wear your comfy walking shoes because there is a lot to see. Then we can begin our drive home with memories of the Beautiful Rhododendrons & Festival.
