1 SHENANDOAH VALLEY / BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS
We leave today and make our way through the Shenandoah Valley and into the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where we stay in Wytheville, Virginia.
2 WEST VIRGINIA / OHIO
Welcome aboard as we travel north to Michigan for our exciting tour of this Great State. We travel into Ohio, where we spend the night in the Toledo area.
3 HENRY FORD MUSEUM / GREENFIELD VILLAGE / DETROIT CITY TOUR
Today we visit one of the state’s top attractions – Henry Ford Museum/ Greenfield Village – to explore its many exhibits covering over 300 years of American history. We will also see Detroit through the eyes of a Local Guide on a City Tour. We spend the night near “Motor City” Detroit.
4 FRANKENMUTH / BONNER’S CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND / MACKINAW CITY
This morning on our way to Mackinaw City we visit the world’s largest Christmas store – Bonner’s Christmas Wonderland. Walk through over 1 1/2 Acres, including over 250 decorated trees and more than 50,000 ornaments. We have lunch and time for looking around in what is called “Michigan’s Little Bavaria” Frankenmuth. We spend the night in Mackinaw City
5 SOO LOCKS / MACKINAC ISLAND / GRAND HOTEL
Today we go into the Upper Peninsula to Sault Ste. Marie’s Soo Locks for a narrated cruise through the world’s largest waterway traffic system. On our way to Sault Ste. Marie we cross the Straits of Mackinaw via the “Big Mac” Bridge which is over 5 miles long. We come back to St. Ignace where we cruise over to Mackinac Island and board horse drawn carriages for a ride to the famous Grand Hotel for the next two days. Dinner is included this evening at the hotel.
6 MACKINAC ISLAND / GRAND HOTEL
Today’s breakfast is also included at the Grand Hotel! You will have the day to enjoy the hotel, or take a carriage ride into town for some shopping. Dinner is included again this evening at the hotel before spending another night at The Grand Hotel.
7 ANN ARBOR / FORD PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY
We enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning before boarding the ferry to head to Ann Arbor, Michigan and the Gerald Ford Presidential Library. The Gerald R. Ford Library collects and makes accessible to the public a rich body of archival materials on U.S. domestic issues, foreign relations and political affairs during the Cold War era. The library focuses on the Ford administration in addition to sharing a permanent time line exhibit on the lives of Gerald and Betty Ford. We then travel south to Toledo, Ohio where we spend the night.
8 HOME
Today we depart Toledo heading for home with all our wonderful memories of the Grand Hotel and Michigan.
